Food and drink from across Maine — with all of the state's 16 counties represented — will be featured at Gov.-elect Janet Mills' inaugural celebration Friday night.

Mills' inaugural ceremony is tonight at the Augusta Civic Center and will include young musicians from across the state. The party that will follow Friday will feature entertainment from Maine-based musicians as well as food and drink from Aroostook County to York County.

"The inaugural celebration is about paying tribute to our great state," Mills said in a news release. "What better way to do that than to showcase Maine's extraordinary musical talent along with food and drink from every county?"

Mills' inauguration today will be from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., and entertainment will include a trio of Portland youngsters and Mount Blue High School's Franklin County Fiddlers, from her hometown of Farmington.

The food at Friday's party will be spread through two rooms at the Civic Center, with a mashed potato station, meat-carving station, sausage station, seafood bar. There also will be stations featuring Maine cheese spreads, vegetable crudite spreads, desserts and beverages.

The inaugural celebration, in line with past practice, is a black-tie optional invitation-only event, paid for by donations raised through the Mills Inaugural Committee and a $20 ticketing charge.
