The location has held significance throughout Scarborough's history, starting with the area's first settlers who lit beacons on the top of nearby Scottow Hill. according to a news release. The community's name is inspired by those settlers, as it intends to be a modern-day beacon, guiding residents home who will be contributing to the town and region, developers said.
