'Tales & Ales' networking series honored by Realize Maine

The Tales & Ales entrepreneur networking program was named "Project of the Year" by the Realize Maine Network, which brings together young Maine professionals.

The Tales & Ales program is a midcoast gathering every other month at which three entrepreneurs share best practices, challenges and triumphs as participants sample local beer, Realize Maine, an initiative of the Maine Development Foundation, said in a news release. It received a $500 stipend from Realize Maine.

The series was developed by Midcoast Edge, one of 10 regional teams of professionals under 40 who make up the Realize Maine network.

The program is part of an outreach to keep young professionals in Maine, said Yellow Light Breen, president and CEO of the Maine Development Foundation.

"Mainers who have stayed here or figured out a way to come back have scratched, clawed and created career opportunities. We want it to be easier for those coming up in the workforce now," he said in the news release. "We want to help create the networks, opportunities and relationships that make young people able to stay here."

Kelly Dorsey, vice president of treasury services at Androscoggin Bank and chair of Midcoast Edge, said the Tales & Ales program fosters connections for career enhancement and community involvement.

"We know the Maine experience is really important to those of us from Maine and those moving here from away," Dorsey said. "Our goal is to engage as many partners as possible, so we can all work smarter, not harder. We learn from each other as we grow our careers and our families."
