U.S. Sen. Angus King, I-Maine, joined the Senate's Democratic caucus on Aug. 1 in sending a letter to President Donald Trump, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., and Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, chairman of the Finance Committee, outlining three key policy priorities they believe should be the basis for bipartisan tax reform: 1) It must provide tax relief for middle-class families without new breaks for the richest 1%; 2) Tax changes must be fiscally responsible and not endanger critical problems like Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security; 3) The process should include public hearings and preclude the use of 'budget reconciliation' rules used during the attempted repeal of the Affordable Care Act.
Do you agree that federal tax reform should be built upon those three priorities?
