The Portland Buy Local organization recently spoke against a proposal to demolish three historic buildings on Forest Avenue as part of a development plan that looks to add a new CVS location. The organization argues the destruction of these historic buildings would drastically change the feel of that Portland neighborhood and would be detrimental to possible future economic developments. Similar arguments have been made against developments by national chains in more rural communities as well.
